KKN Gurugram  Desk | The Elections 2025 are still several months away, but the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already started gearing up for the upcoming elections. Party leaders have been making frequent visits to Bihar, signaling the party’s preparations for the elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself is scheduled to visit Bihar twice within a span of 40 days. This heightened activity indicates that the BJP is serious about the upcoming electoral battle.

The party has completed surveys for all 243 constituencies in Bihar, and sources suggest that BJP plans to make significant changes in its candidate list by cutting the tickets of several current MLAs. This decision comes as part of the party’s efforts to rejuvenate its base and improve its chances in the 2025 elections. According to party sources, the BJP is focusing on candidates who can deliver results and has resolved to prioritize electoral success over individual loyalties.

Key Findings from BJP’s Bihar Survey

BJP has conducted a comprehensive survey across the 243 assembly constituencies of Bihar, which has revealed critical insights about the performance of its sitting MLAs. Based on these findings, the party has decided to take tough decisions regarding ticket distribution for the upcoming elections.

The primary factor driving these decisions is electoral performance. If an MLA’s performance is deemed unsatisfactory in the survey, their ticket will be cut. The party has emphasized that electability will be the key criterion for ticket allocation rather than personal relationships or party loyalty. Even well-established leaders will not be immune if they fail to show the necessary performance and results on the ground. This signals a shift in BJP’s approach to candidate selection, focusing more on the capacity to win rather than long-standing political affiliations.

BJP’s Focus on Electoral Strategy and Seat-by-Seat Analysis

To ensure a comprehensive strategy for the Bihar Elections 2025, the BJP has been conducting block-level meetings to assess its strengths and weaknesses across every constituency. These meetings are designed to collect data, analyze voter sentiments, and formulate a strategy that caters to the unique demands of each seat. BJP’s goal is to fine-tune its approach in every district and constituency, ensuring that they have a clear picture of the electoral landscape.

Moreover, the BJP is also closely monitoring the activities of opposition parties and the leaders who might switch sides ahead of the elections. The party is proactively identifying rebel leaders—those who may not be satisfied with the candidates selected by the party or might feel sidelined in the ticket distribution process. By doing so, the BJP to minimize internal conflicts and prevent potential defections that could harm its prospects in crucial constituencies.

Importance of Winning Bihar for NDA

Bihar holds immense significance for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), and the BJP understands that winning the Bihar Elections 2025 is crucial for maintaining the strength of the coalition. The opposition alliance in Bihar, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (), has remained a formidable force in the state, much like the opposition in Maharashtra. BJP is aware that if the NDA loses in Bihar, it will not only be a blow to the party’s morale but will also provide a major boost to the opposition’s unity across the country.

Given the strong opposition presence in Bihar, the BJP’s primary goal is to ensure that the party remains in power, securing a majority that can counterbalance the influence of the opposition. With the 2024 General Elections looming, the  become a crucial stepping stone for the BJP to solidify its national presence and further its political agenda.

BJP’s Approach to Seat Sharing and Coalition Dynamics

Despite the growing urgency in preparations, BJP is not in a hurry to finalize seat-sharing arrangements within the NDA. Party sources indicate that the seat-sharing discussions will take place towards the end of the decision-making process. This delay in formalizing the seat-sharing deal allows BJP to maintain its strategic flexibility while ensuring that the allocation of seats is done in a way that maximizes the party’s chances of winning.

BJP’s internal calculations suggest that while several smaller allies within the NDA have already made their demands known, the final decisions regarding seat distribution will be made after careful deliberation. Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), and other allies have conveyed their seat requirements, but the final seat-sharing formula will be arrived at once BJP evaluates all aspects of the upcoming elections.

The Role of Local Leaders and Their Significance in BJP’s Election Strategy

As part of its grassroots-level engagement, the BJP is focusing on strengthening its local leadership and ensuring that its local candidates have a strong presence in their respective constituencies. In the 2020 Bihar elections, the BJP’s alliance with JD(U) helped the party gain significant traction, but the coming elections will be different, with much more attention paid to individual performance and voter outreach.

BJP is also taking steps to identify emerging young leaders and those with a strong local following. This strategy is aimed at energizing the party’s base and reaching out to new voters, particularly the youth, who play a crucial role in shaping election outcomes.

Additionally, BJP’s commitment to ensuring the inclusion of women candidates in key constituencies reflects the party’s efforts to adapt to changing political dynamics in Bihar. Ensuring a gender-inclusive campaign could help BJP gain support among female voters, who form a significant part of the electorate.

Impact of BJP’s Survey on Bihar’s Political Landscape

The ongoing survey and the subsequent decisions about ticket distribution are likely to have a significant impact on the political landscape of Bihar. By prioritizing electability over loyalty, BJP aims to make its candidate selection process more meritocratic and focused on winning. This approach could reshape the political environment, as non-performing MLAs face the risk of losing their tickets, while new, more capable leaders might emerge as the faces of the party.

Moreover, BJP’s careful approach to seat sharing and coalition management will play a key role in how the NDA presents itself as a unified force during the elections. The NDA’s ability to come together and present a strong front could influence voter perceptions, particularly in a state like Bihar, where caste dynamics and regional issues play a critical role in electoral outcomes.

BJP’s Final Push for Bihar’s Victory in 2025

With only a few months left before the 2025 Bihar elections, BJP is strategically positioning itself to take on the opposition alliance and ensure victory. The ongoing surveys, evaluation of candidates, and internal seat-sharing discussions will continue to shape the party’s approach to the elections. BJP’s emphasis on electability and merit-based selection signals a shift towards a more dynamic and forward-looking approach, which may prove to be key to the party’s success.

As the election campaign intensifies, the BJP will rely on its grassroots network, strong local leaders, and strategic alliances to secure a majority in Bihar. The outcome of the Bihar elections will not only have local implications but could also affect the broader national political landscape, particularly in light of the upcoming 2024 General Elections.

The Bihar Elections 2025 represent a critical challenge for the BJP, as it seeks to strengthen its position in a state that has historically been a battleground for political forces. By focusing on electability, evaluating candidates based on performance, and ensuring strategic coalition management, the BJP aims to secure a victory in Bihar, which will serve as a stepping stone for its future political ambitions.

With seat-sharing negotiations, candidate selection, and electoral strategies already in full swing, BJP’s focus on winning Bihar will define the party’s trajectory in the state and possibly influence its overall success in the upcoming national elections.
